Greenwaste Processing Center
The Greater Greenville Sanitation Commission, GGSC, takes pride in introducing its new Greenwaste Processing Center.
The Greenwaste Processing Center is responsible for grinding yardwaste collected within our service area into mulch and soil.
Since its inception, the Center, which is operated by seven personnel including a site supervisor, has allowed the Commission to reduce its dependence on long haul transportation of material and insure a reuse for the processed products.
At the GGSC we believe that the future depends greatly on how well we instruct our children to be environmentally committed to a lifestyle of Reducing-Reusing and Recycling, which is why we are excited to announce a phase two expansion of the site to include a new Education Center.
The Centers primary function will be to provide a hands-on approach to recovery and reuse of our waste materials through demonstration sites for gardening, mushroom growing, wind power, solar power, and hydropower. Additionally, program time will also be offered to local school students through GGSC’s extensive recycling education program.
