The South Carolina Legislature creates special purpose districts to provide specific public services. The Greater Greenville Sanitation Commission is such a district created to provide garbage and recycling collection to over 50,000 businesses and residences in Greenville County, South Carolina.
The service district location can best be described as a crescent around the north and west sides of Greenvile City limits. Note that the Greater Greenville Sanitation Commission serves tax districts 153, 155, 156, 186, 187, 225, 230, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 269, 271, 274, 277, 297, 308, 309, and 311.
Its governing commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month, with the exception of December. Meetings are held in the conference room of the Commission Headquarters located at 1600 West Washington Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601.
The agenda for each meeting is posted on this web site seven (7) days prior to each meeting date with notices for special meetings posted at least 72 hours in advance.
